How Momentum Works

Inspired by the methodology from Polar Habits, we utilize momentum to track progress. When you cross off a task, we boost your momentum score, and the more consistent you are, the greater the positive impact on your score. For example, on Day 1 you earn 1 point, on Day 2 you earn 2 points, and Day 3 you earn 3 points, and so on. When you fall behind and miss a day, we don't punish you by resetting your score to zero. Rather, we decrease your score in proportion to the number of days missed. First day missed loses 1 point, second day missed loses 2 points, and so on. Momentum rewards consistency, while recognizing that once in a while, we fall behind on our goals.

 

For a non-daily goal, such as Read 3x/week, we only reduce your momentum if Sunday rolls around, and you are not complete.
